Back Rooms is Blocked by Operating System

Allowing a self-developed app to run (macOS)

On macOS, unsigned apps you build yourself get blocked with a warning like “Back Rooms” Not Opened. Here’s how to run it anyway:

  1. Try to open the app (e.g. double-click it). You’ll see the message “Back Rooms” can’t be opened — click Done.
  2. Open System Settings (Apple menu → System Settings…).
  3. Go to Privacy & Security.
  4. Scroll down to the Security section. You’ll see a note that “Back Rooms” was blocked from use.
  5. Click Open Anyway, then confirm with your password or Touch ID.
  6. Open the app again — it will now run.

Turning off Smart App Control (Windows 11)

Smart App Control blocks unsigned or unrecognized apps, which can interfere with running self-developed software. Here’s how to turn it off:

  1. Click the Start button and open Settings (or press Windows + I).
  2. Go to Privacy & security.
  3. Click Windows Security.
  4. Under Protection areas, click App & browser control.
  5. Under Smart App Control settings, select Off.
  6. If prompted to confirm, click Confirm.

⚠️ Important note Once turned off, Smart App Control cannot be turned back on without resetting or reinstalling Windows. Windows will fall back to standard Microsoft Defender protection.
